Feathered pen made with goose feather. Sold with or without a wooden stand. All the Icelandic sagas were written with goose feathers. The tip of the goose feather was cut and shaped with a sharp knife, and then it was dipped into ink made of a mixture of minerals and herbs. Many original manuscripts of the Icelandic sagas have been preserved in vellum or untainted calfskin form.
Original design by Icelandic artist and Saga Museum owner, Ernst Backman.Â
