VIKINGS - Turf houses
Iceland was inhabited early in the viking era around 870 AD by Norwegian vikings, seeking new beginnings far from home. Vikings were adventurous people with a reputation for being hostile, roaming around Europe fighting for already occupied land, valuables and slaves to call their own. The vikings that settled in Iceland, brought with them livestock, slaves and all the necessities to build farms and begin their new lives on the unclaimed island.
